Indie Spam Post

Some indie spam photos of some gorgeous polishes!

First up is Crazy on You, by Wing Dust Polishes.

Wing Dust

Two thin coats of Crazy on You over Kleancolor Black, topped with Misa BREAKneck top coat.

Wing Dust Crazy on You

I preferred this layered, it was opaque on it’s own at three coats, but the black makes everything stand out so much more.

I adored the pink shift! On the angle, the shimmer in the polish really shows pink, instead of blue. 🙂 Some of the pink hexes have a reflective curl (the way the light hits the edges makes it looked curled), but they lie flat on the nail, and this was lovely and smooth after one topcoat layer.

Wing Dust Crazy on You

Next we have a cute little polish by Lush Lacquer, called Neon Blast. This was one that my friend Megan from Two Lacquered Girls blog sent me, and I adore it!

Lush Lacquer Neon Blast

Excuse the poor lightbox photos, I’m still working on the lighting in winter issues 🙂

Lush Lacquer Neon Blast

This was one coat of Neon Blast over Pretty & Polished Day Trippin’, and I LOVED this combo!

There's no real substitute for good sunlight, is there?!

There’s no real substitute for good sunlight, is there?!

And see? When Day Trippin’ changed colour to the warm pink version (still showing the purple at the tips, I ADORE colour changing polishes), the glitters in Neon Blast still showed up perfectly. I think Neon Blast would be a hard polish to layer wrong – some glitter toppers are a real challenge to get the right base colour, but I think this one is just amazingly versatile.

Lush Lacquer Neon Blast

And Pretty & Polished Candy Coated…

pretty & polished candy coated

Super cute little polish, candy pink jelly base with purple mini glitters, and a couple of sizes of pink holographic hexes.

2013_07160005

Photos show three coats, no top coat. Still some VNL, but not a lot, and just lovely on the super short nails on my other hand, subtle and sparkly and completely disguises the nubbins 😀

pretty & polished candy coated

This is Ami by Daily Lacquer… which I bought almost as soon as she opened her shop because a) it’s my colours, and b) it has my name on it. Literally 😀

Ami

Super pretty, this is two coats over Kleancolor Sea Ice. It can be opaque in 3, but I had some issues with drying time.

Ami 1

I’ve added a thick coat of base coat and then a fast dry top coat on top so it’s lovely and smooth, but probably still having those dry time issues. I love it regardless!

Ami Daily Lacquer

And finally, this is a polish from Mmmm Nails, called Between the Buns, however it appears this shop no longer exists on Etsy!! Argh! It’s taken me so long to try it, but I can say, this is one gorgeous polish.

Mmmm Nails

It’s a strong duochromatic gold, which flicks between gold and pink, with a slight green hue at certain angles.

Mmmmm Nails

Photos show two coats, plus top coat, there is still a slight bit of VNL, but that would disappear with three coats. I did two because I was planning on stamping over it, and knew that would distract the eye from the nail line – I am cunning when I am short on time 😀

Mmmn Nails 1

Dry time was good, wear time has been excellent (two whole days, very slight tip wear, no chips, that’s GREAT on my nails!) and I really, really like it. The best of all the polishes I bought from her! Where did you go, nail polish creator? I want more duochromes from you!

Have a great day,

Ami

Ruby Wing: Cut Grass + Layering with Lush Lacquer Slime Time

This is Ruby Wing Cut Grass – the most accurate that I could get this polish to look. I understand now why the swatches I’ve seen look more blue – the camera HATES this colour! It’s.. somewhere between grass and mint. Slight more green than Snifter lollies, and with an almost neon tinge to it. Just stunning! Photos show two coats, no top coat.

inside... slightly bluer than it looks in real life.

inside… slightly bluer than it looks in real life.

No streaks, easy to apply, almost rubbery – in a good way – and, of course, in the sunlight it changes. And boy does it change. FAST.

Ruby WIng Cut Grass Sunlight

And again, this looks slightly more blue in this photo than in real life. Sorry! I did my best to catch it…the photos do show what a gorgeous shiny polish this is, though.

Cut Grass is part of the scented range, and the scent wears off really quickly, thank goodness. Because it made me feel a bit sick, to me it smelled very fake and chemically floral, like cheap laundry powder. But by the end of the day I couldn’t smell it at all. Yay! 😀

Sunlight

Sunlight

And then, because I am me, I added a glittery topper. This is Lush Lacquer Slime Time, and I love it. One easy coat (that’s how dense the glitter is) and Misa BREAKneck top coat. Photo taken inside…

Inside, out of the sun

Inside, out of the sun

And then outside: let the darkening begin!

Ruby Wing Cut Grass

The brighter and more intense the sunlight is, the fast these Ruby Wing polishes change colour, and the darker they go.

Ruby Wing Cut Grass

This is actually colour accurate, here. It has that lovely dark green, and the sheer green base of Slime Time doesn’t interfere with the colour of Cut Grass much, or the speed of the change at all.

Ruby Wing Cut Grass

I love this polish, and will definitely be reaching for this one again soon!

Have a great day

OPI Don’t Touch My Tutu: Swatches, Layering, and many, many photos!

My family got me a nail polish voucher from Candy Girl for my birthday, and I spent it so fast there were scorch marks across the computer screen 😀 One of the polishes I snagged was OPI Don’t Touch My Tutu, a sheer jelly from the New York Ballet Collection, and one which I have seen on my bloggers nails in many combinations. I love a versatile polish.

OPI Don't Touch My Tutu

This is two coats of Don’t Touch My Tutu. For those of you who love a glorious, glossy, clean nude nail look, this right here might be a good option. Even I liked it! (side note: you see my wonky nail line on my ring finger? I was feeding a horse some grass and it bit my finger. And held on. And tried to drag me over the fence, because I was screaming and it got scared, but regardless, HALFWAY OVER THE FENCE. Luckily, it eventually let me go, but the skin under my nail fell out and never really regrew. Motto: Horses Bite Hard: When Feeding Them Keep Your Hands Flat. And plus, if they bite you, try not to scream. It’s ok, I was about 11, I’ve mostly gotten over it hehehe)

2013_01280081

So shiny, so bright. So… needed to be layered. I went with two lovely coats of Lush Lacquer Seas The Moment. Mmmm love this, it just looks really fresh!

2013_01280083

Sun..

2013_01280084

And then one more coat of Don’t Touch My Tutu. It softened it all down, sort of water colourish.

2013_01280091

More layering ideas! This one inspired by a combo of DTMT and Crows Toes Maxxed Out (which I desperately want), from (here). But, as I don’t have Maxxed Out, I used a franken of mine on the tips.

2013_01280092

Sun.

2013_01280094

The trouble is, I think that the yellow base to this franken makes me look like I have the worlds most sparkly snot on my fingers. Sorry for any mental image distress that may have caused, but it was back to the drawing board for me!

2013_01280097

Now I decided to layer two dabbed coats of Nail Pattern Boldness’s Bitches Brew over two coats of DTMT.

2013_01280133

Sun. I quite liked this, but it just looked too patchy for me to be totally happy with it.

2013_01280135

So, one coat of DTMT. The great thing about DTMT is that even though the first coat can be a bit streaky, for some reason it doesn’t look that streaky layered over another polish.

2013_01280138

I did NOT expect the gold to look yellow. My mother bought some lycra in the 90’s, which she made all sorts of things out of. This combo REALLY reminds me of that material 😀

2013_01280142

Macro. Mmm 90’s aerobic wear. 😀

2013_01280148

Sooo…. back AGAIN to the Maxxed Out concept – this time I layered a few different polishes to try and achieve a similar effect. Two  coats of DTMT again, followed by one coat of OPI Servin’ Up Sparkle, and one coat of Nabi Gold Big Ball. Topped off with China Glaze Fast Forward.

2013_01280152

Well, I called this a moderate success.

2013_01280154

I left it on for more than five minutes, anyway!

Up Colors Azul Disco & Lush Lacquer Crusin 4 a Bruisin

This is Up Colors Holographico in Azul Disco, which the gorgeous Del from Domestic Minxes got me in our recent Christmas polish swap:

Up Colors Azul Disco

Isn’t it beautiful? I have Iris, which I’ve shown a few times already, and this is a deeper, more grey toned blue with the same gorgeous formula and soft holographic effect. And I love the little square Up Colors bottles.

2013_01110081

This is two coats, no top coat, with a small amount of sunlight. It was a pretty cloudy day!

2013_01110093

I feel very lucky to have this polish, thanks Del!

2013_01110098

Then for added fun, I put on two thin coats of Lush Lacquer Cruisin 4 a Bruisin, which Sister V bought for me for my birthday (squueee!), previously shown here.

2013_01110102

This was a neat combo, all those glitters sitting around in their ‘admire me!’ way, and the holographic soft blue peeping through happily underneath.

Lush Lacquer Cruisin 4 a Bruisin

I used Misa BREAKneck topcoat, which is just brilliant for these smooth lying glitter polishes, and very fast drying too.

2013_01110105

Thanks, friends and siblings, for such a gorgeous mani!

Lush Lacquer Seas the Moment – Swatches

Another gorgeous Lush Lacquer gifted to me on my birthday by my Sister V… squee! This is Seas the Moment – blue, green and white matte and satin glitters in a clear base.

But first – the ‘undies’ – my base colour. This is actually a polish my mother made, a gorgeous toddler blue with holographic shimmer. Toddler blue? Yeah, not really as pale and soft as baby blue, just a touch more grown up. 😉 Two layers of this – it was a bit runnier than I expected, and so flooded me nails. And left shimmer behind when I tried to clean it up quickly. Sorry about the mess, I obviously wasn’t feeling all that conscientious!

2012_12290067

Now, this is Seas the Moment.

Lush Lacquer Seas the Moment

Pretty, huh! One thin, easy, lovely coat of Seas the Moment. Inside, under light 🙂

2012_12290074

Macro…

2012_12290075

And then, of course, I matted it with Essie Matte About You.

2012_12290083

Macro of THAT 😀

2012_12290080

And because I was dying to try out the 3 way Nail Art Pens again, I added a quick and nasty flower on my ring finger with the pink and black pens, and there is a little black rhinestone in the center of the flower. I like those black blingies, because they are really quite satin, not all that glittery at all! Something different…

2012_12290092

Have a lovely day!

Lush Lacquer Cruisin 4 a Bruisin & Boe Beauty Purple Knights Swatches

Birthday polishes! Birthday polishes from two sisters, independently chosen which work brilliantly together 😀

This is Boe Beauty (a new to me brand) in Purple Knights – a gorgeous blue based purple with blue and red shimmer- this was a present from Sister C – yippee!

sunlight

These types of polish colours are some of my all time favourites! The formula on this was a bit runny, but quite workable, this is two coats here.

2012_12280006

Then I added on thin coat of Cruisin 4 a Bruisin – blue, black and mid purple matte in a clear base, part of Lush Lacquers Halloween range, I believe, and a birthday present from Sister V. Thanks, Sister V! I LOVE IT! 😀

Lush Lacquer Crusin 4 a Bruisin

This is my second Lush Lacquer polish, and so far I love them all – they are packed full of glitter, and apply almost as easily as a creme. Seriously. Just brush it on like normal, and done!

2012_12280011

*sighs in happiness*

2012_12280009

Then I matted it with Essie Matte About You:

2012_12280014

And wore this for two days, showing everyone I could 😀

2012_12280017

Thank you, Sisters V and C, for providing me with a perfect-for-me manicure! LOVE YOU!

Have a great day

Nail Mail and Birthday Hauls!

Some exciting new goodies for me to play with, some of which I already have been playing with and will be blogging about shortly.

Birthday Goodies! My birthday is on Christmas Day, which is fun. And this year my family happened to notice that I have a bit of a thing for nail polish. Possibly because I yak on about it a lot, or because I have half of them addicted to it, and am working on that other half (how about it, Sister C, Cousin F? It’s a lot of fun on the colourful side!)

Sister C bought me THESE amazing things: Nail Art Pens! But not just any nail art pens, these are super duper three-in-one beasts, two in each set (black and gold, silver/blue and pink)

2012_12290029

They have matching rhinestone bling.

2012_12290033

They have a thin nozzle

Nail Art Pen

AND they have a brush.

2012_12290032

So far I’ve used nozzle and blingies, and they work AWESOMELY.

AND she got me these three cuties: from left to right: Boe Beauty Champagne, Face of Australia Mystic Iris (yay, Iris!, plus, Face of Australia  don’t test on animals! Whoop!) and Boe Beauty Purple Knights. Not shown is the Face of Australia lipgloss and WAH book of nail art she also got me, they are amazing 🙂

2012_12290034

Sister V bought me these three stunners: Left to Right: Lush Lacquer Crusin 4 a Bruisin, Seas the Moment and Starry Nights. WHOA.

2012_12290035

Simply gorgeous.

2012_12290036

Then, nail mail! My order from Evil Shades finally turned up (I say finally because I ordered this on the 27th September, turned up just after Christmas). I have read that she has been very sick, and I hope she gets better soon. I thought these were lost, so am just happy I have them.

2012_12290037

Little sample of Orbs sparkle stuff, cute little lolly things, nail polishes in Pumpkin Queen (orange) and Out of the Corner of my Eye. They both look complex and interesting.

2012_12290038

And lipstick in Jenaveve! Funny little tube, intensely pigmented lipstick.

And because I find close up photos of my lips freaky, here are some lips on my hand! hehehehe

Jenaveve with flash... the Orbs sparkles are there above it, but washed out by the light.

Jenaveve with flash… the Orbs sparkles are there above it, but washed out by the light.

and more.. you can see the sparkles ( Orbs) just up the top there. Very cute.

2012_12290044

And… my 365 Days of Color Mystery Christmas Bag! Wheeee!

2012_12290051

LOOK at all the goodies! This was a serious bargain, $15 US for all this.

2012_12290052

One of the main reasons I wanted to buy this was for the cuticle oil. I received Headless Horseman cuticle oil in the Halloween mystery bag, and loved it so much I wanted a back up, even though I’ve barely made a dent in it yet. And she sent Reindeer Poop, which is a very interesting scent indeed! Love the name 😀 AND two cuticle balms – Peppermint Bark: which smell divine. I love them all, and they all work incredibly well.

2012_12290054

The two polishes: I Stole Christmas (apparantly I’ve been bad this year, heheheh, which is GOOD because this is the one I preferred!) and Chemical Romance. Pretty, and both full sized! And an assortment of other totally cute Xmas things. Thanks so much, Sunny! I’m so coming back for more mystery bags if you do anymore.

2012_12290055

And finally, Ninja Polish recently released a bunch of discontinued Ozotics, and I KNEW my Sister V was craving some of them, big time. So I got her some as an early birthday present, and threw a couple of extras in for me (of course!)

I got her these gorgeous ones…

2012_12290058

see? Unfortunately I waffled a bit deciding on mine, and one of her wants got cart jacked. But I got her another one instead! 😀 (whoops, sorry V!)

2012_12290060

Ozotics: 505, 515, 526 and 532

And for me, I bought Jessica Cinnamon Kiss, and A-England Holy Grail (the new revamped version). WHOA. So pretty

2012_12290061

Look at the lush glowing colours!

2012_12290062

I feel so lucky! And on that note I shall go and look at my pretties some more 😀

Have a great day
