Too Many Untrieds 2: Zoya, W7, Nubar etc

W7

W7 Pink Suede – 1 coat, no top coat

W7 Pink Suede

no sunlight! But this is a very pretty deep pink, and I’d imagine top coat brings out that silver shimmer.

W7 Pink Suede 1

W7 Metallic Jupiter – 2 coats, no top coat

W7 Metallic Jupiter

Oh, wow. I love glass fleck shimmer, and multi-chromes, so no surprise that I adore this. I was surprised at how opaque it was at 2 coats! And the pink/purple/blue shifts were gorgeous.

W7 Metallic Jupiter 1

NUBAR

Toasted Marshmallow – 2 coats, no top coat

Nubar Toasted Marshmallow

This is a very jelly polish, but it became opaque at 2 coats. Strange! Also, it reminds me of baby poo. Not good. But a nice flattering colour, and for me, a good base for some of my other glitters 😀

Nubar Toasted Marshmallow 1

Nubar On The Radar – 2 coats, no top coat

Nubar On The Radar

Crelly, and just a gorgeous colour. My camera wants to show all these as much lighter than they actually are, argh! But it was a flattering deep terracotta orange,  looking almost red in the sunlight. This polish had been sitting for a good few months, and some of the pigment was separating out, but a good shake got it all mixed back up again.

Nubar On The Radar 1

Nubar Contempo – 1 coat no top coat.

Nubar Contempo

Matte!  Surprise! Lovely deep raspberry, blue toned pink.

Nubar Contempo 1

Nubar Reclaim – 2 coats, no top coat.

Nubar Reclaim

I’ve been wanting to try this for ages, and I’m sad I waited so long, it’s gorgeous. Deep emerald green, and even though there was no direct sunlight, you can see the holographic shimmer still. Sorry I couldn’t get a better photo!

Nubar Reclaim 1

Peripera Rose Nail – 3 coats, no top coat.

Peripera Rose

Pretty pink jelly with scattered white hex glitters. Quite sheer, nail line is still visible after the three coats.

Peripera Rose 1

SpaRitual  Greenhouse – 3 coats, no top coat

Sparritual Greenhouse

Very pretty! Needs three coats for opacity, but has a lovely gold shimmer. I still love their bottles…

Sparritual Greenhouse 1

NYX Girls 131 – 2 coats, no top coat

NYX 131

Almost a one coater, and a very pretty deep red with pink and gold shimmer. I do LOVE these shades!

Zoya Fall Pixie Dust Skittle Swatches & Comparison

Good morning!

Racing through my untrieds now, this was/is my first ever outright purchase of a whole collection of polishes, the Fall (Autumn for us kiwis) Zoya Pixie Dust collection. (off Ebay, yay!). And I really wanted to wear as many of them as I could, as fast as I could, so here they are!

Rainbowish, the gold is Tomoko, orange is Dhara, Green is Chita, Blue is Sunshine, and the purple (thumb) is Carter.
No top coat, they’re textures, and I find the Pixies more gritty than the OPI liquid sands, but far more glittery and pretty 😀

pixies 1

Two coats of all except Carter (purple), which is a 3 coater. Chita and Sunshine are one coaters, really, and so pretty.

pixies 2

LOVE!!

pixies 5

It’s also really easy to stamp over these textured polishes, which is fun 🙂

pixies stamped

The one over the orange is a tiger, it’s really nice but the orange is so sparkly that you can’t see it in these photos. Sorry!

pixies stamped 1

And a quick comparison between Zoya Tomoko and OPI Honey Ryder… in the bottle Honey Ryder looks much warmer toned

opi zoya comparison

On the nail they look very similar. I hoped Tomoko would be more platinum toned, but no, very similar. Tomoko is much more glittery, like finely ground crystals, whereas the finish on Honey Ryder is more wrinkled and smooth, foil-like, or small gold brains 😀 😀 Tomoko has a better name. 😉 I’m glad I have both, they are both gorgeous!

zoya opi comp 2

And last in the set is Arabella, a lovely deep fuchsia type pink textured polish.

pixie arabella 1

I have one coat of Star Kin Orbit over Arabella on my accent nail, and two coats of Arabella. No base, no top coat.

pixie arabella 3

OH! I almost forgot to say, the blue and green and purple textures here didn’t stain my nails at all. I know the earlier lighter blue Pixie Dust was VERY stainy (and very pretty), so thought I’d mention. These are fine 😀

Have an awesome day!

Nail Art Stuff

horseriding mani!

horse mani

Pinky: Nfu Oh 67, 3 coats. Ring finger Color Club Pardon my French (I think, no label!) stamped with some horses from my first ever proper stamping plates, whee! Stamped using a-england Excalibur, and BYS Black Satin. Middle nail has a franken pink holo with silver blings, and ring finger and thumb have Star Kin (ours, yay!) Grayceful.

horse mani1

And then, winter happened, and no horseriding. Poos. But it’s funny because some of these horses have no heads. Not the stamps fault, my fault, but it’s great 😀

horse mani2

Winter mani – all except accent nail: Coral Colors Jayded something (no sticker), stamped with Color Club Worth the Risque – aiming for a frozen, icy lake effect 😀

winter 1

Then my accent nail has two coats of Boe Beauty Red Hot polish, which is sponged with Cult Nails Annalicious and Nfu Oh 74 , then stamped with BYS Black Satin for the outline of the fire. The ‘sparks’ were sponged on Vivid Lacquer Pumpkin Hangover.

winter

Sad Panda Nails: Three coats of Boe Beauty Ballet Pink, stamped with panda stamps, and bamboo.

sad pandas

I’ve started using a sticky stamper, which is silicon and very sticky and works brilliantly, BUT… it falls out of the stamper, and then when I use it on it’s own it distorts the image. I’ll glue it in, I think, I really like it, just to get around that design. 🙂 The green is China Glaze Jolly Holly, the black is China Glaze Liquid Leather, I have two black blingies for the panda’s ears on my little fingernail, and it’s all topped off with L.A. Colors Rapid Dry top coat.

sad pandas

And a stronger stamping pattern, using China Glaze Liquid Leather again as the black stamping polish, and Mmmm Nails Between the Buns (that NAME!) as the base coat.

Mmmmn nails brocade 1

I loved this… so much it was still on my nails two days later. I KNOW. 😀 It reminds me of very elegant curtains. Yes. I do love it, I keep looking at it, I think stamping over a multichrome nail polish will be a win for me, as can’t lose with a multichrome anyway.

Mmmm nails brocade

And another quick one that was an attempt to unfug a polish – Zoya Akyra, just a weird colour on me. I stamped fish on my nails, using A-England Excalibur, and green ‘water weeds’ using A-England St George (too faint to see, sadly).

Akyra art 1

And added a nice coat of piCture pOlish splash for added aquatic effect, plus top coat, MUCH BETTER!

Akyra art

And last for now, before this becomes a monster post with a life of it’s own, this was a mani I wore for my very first protest, against the testing of legal highs on animals. GRRRRR.

Dog March 3

Cannot believe we have to protest this, because the government wants to make animal testing of dangerous PARTY drugs mandatory. Words can’t express how angry I am about that!

Dog March 1

Anyway, this was a base of Model’s Own – in Little Lemon, two coats over Kleancolor White. I’d show swatches on it’s own, but the white base was so streaky that it was really ugly 😀 Whoops!

Dog March 2

And I stamped puppies, cats and paw prints over it, using China Glaze Liquid Leather, and top coat, which smeared the stamping polish, whoops. I did colour correct these photos to show how neon yellow this polish is, so ignore the greenish fingers :D. This is an amazing neon polish! 😀

Have a wonderful day

Nail Mail and Some Swatches and Suchlike :)

Haul from Beyond Beauty… love the textured polishes!

beyond beauty mail

OPI What Wizardry is This, Honey Ryder, and Alcatraz … Rocks.

OPI textures

And this went on straight away!

OPI textures 1

Accent nail is Honey Ryder, the rest are What Wizardry is This. Three coats, no top coat (obviously).

OPI textures 2

These do dry quicker than normal nail polish, but still takes time without the fast dry top coat, so I did ding this. Of course 😀 That’s why the bling.. it’s hiding a ding (there’s a poem in there hehehe)

OPI textures stamped

Then I stamped it, which was fun, and showed up quite well! Stamping polish used was my good old trust A-England Excalibur (old version, I have a beady eye on the new version…)

OPI textures stamped 1

And some shopping plus mail – the Sorbet is a face cleansing bar that really works and softens, and is also good as a shaving aid, not as slippery as many, but a lovely pay-off in terms of smooth skin afterwards 😀

haul August

I feel so lucky, I don’t often get the chance to get more polish (which, harkening back to my issues with an abundance of untried is probably a good thing), but I love getting polish in the mail! Look at the gorgeous piCture pOlish (an Ozotic, yay, 505 is MINE!) polishes 😀

pp nail mail

Here are two I got from Steph from our polish group, OPI My Pointe Exactly (been wanting this one for ages!) and Color Club Flair, which is a very pretty deep shimmery orange, yay!

stephs destash

And the Zoya Fall Pixie Dust collection! my first collection! And yay, so happy, been wanting the pixie dusts’ for ages, and these look amazing.

fall pixie dusts

and a whole bunch from Cherry Culture’s website, yay, holographic glitters! Shipping was very quick, I think within the week, I am super impressed! Packaging was exceptionally good, too. Yay! I also got a couple of lipsticks, not included in the photo, and they are nice.

cherry culture mail

and yay, Elevation polishes! Including a very nice unscented cuticle oil, and a ‘scratch and dent’ Marmaloda, which looks pretty darn nice to me!

elevation mail

I also have some of the MoYou nail plates (amazing!) and the Pueen Sumptuous stamping set, but I’ve lost my photos, and energy level to retake them is in the minus figures. Sorry! 😀

Have a great day!

Zoya New Zealand promotions

Just a very quick note to my fellow kiwis, Zoya New Zealand is running a promotion on their Facebook page (here) , where if you like them, and share their photos, you could win a few of their polishes.

Zoya is one of my all time favourite nail polish brands, not only are their polishes amazing, they are free of many of the toxins nail polish can have, AND they don’t test on animals. Well done, Zoya! One day I will own many, many more of their polishes 😀

from the Zoya Facebook page! :D

from the Zoya Facebook page! 😀

Plus, the photos they are sharing now are great, I’d love some of these outfits, especially this one 😀

Have a great day

China Glaze I’m Not Lion (I’m A Leopard)

This polish (I’m Not Lion) has been staring at my from my untrieds rack for a looong time now, and I was really happy to get to use it.

China Glaze I'm Not Lion

For this manicure I used a base of China Glaze Kalahari Kiss (one coat), then two coats of I’m Not Lion. It probably would have been completely opaque in 3 coats, but I wanted to be able to remove it easier 😀

2013_04300003

I love the combination of old gold and holographic glitter, it’s subtle until it hits the sunlight, then it’s amazing!

China Glaze I'm Not Lion

My accent nail (ring finger) has the middle strip the same (one coat Kalahari Kiss, two of I’m Not Lion), and then the sides of my nails have on coat of Zoya Felicity and two coats of China Glaze Hello Gorgeous!

2013_04300011

Then, over that I played with a leopard print accent (for the first time ever, Leopard Print and I DO NOT get along. Traditionally).

2013_04300013

I added gold plastic blingys for the dots in the middle of the leopard spots, and topped it off with Misa BREAKneck top coat.

2013_04300014

Which smeared my leopard prints. Just a tiny bit. I could live with it. And, I could get along with this blingy leopard!

Zoya Felicity: Swatches and Layering

This is my second ever Zoya – Felicity! And true to it’s name, it’s a sweet, girly colour.

poor lighting! Whoops!

poor lighting! Whoops!

I’d describe it as a dusty, dusky pink with gold micro flakes and purple micro shimmer, very pretty! It’s not the sort of colour I would usually gravitate too, but it was a Zoya, from a friend on TM, at a price I couldn’t resist. And it actually looked quite nice on!

2012_11270013

And then, being me, I thought – I bet I can make it look nicer – and layered my own polish over the top.

Felicity with 1 coat of Topper

Felicity with 1 coat of Topper

I showed this one in an earlier post, here: it’s Topper, a holographic top coat with flakes – and it really looked lovely, subtle and pretty over Felicity.

2012_11270023

So, there you have it! A pretty polish, work appropriate yet with a nice little holographic and flake effect. 🙂

Darling Diva Polish: Chrome Job Swatches

This is another super polish from Carrie of Darling Diva Polish: Chrome Job. This is from her Battlestar Galactica collection; the name is slang for the Cylons – robot people whom the human people are battling with.

Chrome Job is a glitterbomb in a clear base, and I immediately thought of Megan from Two Lacquered Girls when I saw it 😀 It’s multi-shaped silver (hexes, bars and tiny glitter, mostly), large gunmetal grey squares, small black hexes and matte red squares. Because it’s in a clear base it’s made for layering, and I used  Zoya Dannii because a) I thought it’d suit and b) I already had it on. Bonus! 😀

Love the red glitters against the purple base! Looks opulent, somehow.

Love it. This is two coats of Chrome Job over two coats of Dannii. You don’t need to fish for these glitters, you need to scrape your brush and put some back in the bottle, this polish is PACKED. There’s a bit of dabbing needed to cover all of the nail, but nothing strenous. I finished with a thick layer of Kleancolor Fast Dry to cover the glitters.

One thing I noted was the large gunmetal grey squares have a slight curve to them: I’ve read of curling glitter and I wouldn’t say these CURL, but they are curved. It was easy enough to flick them over so they go with the curve of my nail though – but if I missed one the edges did stick up. And then I pick at them.. don’t do that 😉 Also the bar glitters ate some top coat and stuck up in little frizzy fringes, so I’d recommend two coats of top coat for this one.

Just for fun I layered it over Misa Grey Matters – I want to see ALL the colours, so light tones work best I think. I’d also try it over light green and blue, and perhaps pink or yellow… it would be interesting! This looks great, too. Two coats Grey Matters, one coat Chrome Job, no top coat…

And two coats Chrome Job plus Kleancolor Fast Dry top coat, over the Grey Matters.

Inside lighting…

Macro..

Loved it. It does take a while to dry, so put this on when you know you can read or interweb surf for awhile, then enjoy the insane glittery goodness from this! This photo was taken after 24 hours, one of the larger glitters started to peel and stick out: I think it’s a good idea to put a lot of top coat on to stop this from happening.

But look. Just look. It’s AWESOME. It’s blingy, and out there, and perfectly reminiscent of robots. I love it 🙂

Outside, full sun 🙂

Have a good day

Ami 🙂

Zoya Dannii – Swatches

My first ever Zoya polish! I want MORE. Eventually. I’m greedy, but prosaic too. Meet Dannii, a super sweet lavender polish with heavy iridescent shimmer.

Zoya Danii… Indirect sunlight

At first glance this shimmer looks silver, but on closer look it seems to change between purple, red, blue, green and silver, so I’ll call it iridescent 🙂

Macro:

These photos are two coats, this polish has a great formula to work with. It dried moderately quickly, and wore really well. I topped this off with Kleancolor Fast Dry topcoat.

Have an awesome day

Ami 🙂
